STUDIO A relic of gold (UK size M)

A one-of-a-kind ring exploring surface, erosion and what remains.
 
Formed in sterling silver the ring has been reticulated with heat to create an irregular, weathered surface - a texture shaped by the unpredictable movement of the metal itself. The silver is deeply oxidised before a fragment of 24ct gold is bonded to the surface using the ancient Korean technique of Keum-boo. 
 
Against the blackened silver, the gold appears almost unearthed: worn; fragmented and luminious. Rather than a perfect decorate finish, it becomes a trace of something precious - a remnant surviving within the darkened surface. 
 
Part of STUDIO, an evolving collection of one-off and experimental ppieces exploring imperfection, transformation, memory and material. Each STUDIO piece is made individually and will not be repeated exactly.
